Thanksgiving with the Vances up in Port Townsend at Nana & Pops' new home.
- Norway
Ryan had business in Norway so Jenn joined him for an amazing week in Bergen and Oslo. We had leisurely breakfasts, sat in cafes, hung out with Karin & Stoffer, braved the cold and rain, saw Karin win the Women's National Soccor Championship, and did a little sight seeing too. It was unbelievable!

Nana spent the week with Briggs & Hadley while Dada & Mama were in Norway. They met up with I-I at Disneyland for day...

Ryan played superdad while Jenn recovered from her tonsilectomy. Some of the adventures included a trip to the petting zoo. The highlight of the month was heading down to San Diego for a week on the beach with Nana & I-I. Jenn, Briggs & Hadley hung out for the first part of the week and checked out Sea World, then Ryan met up with us for a weekend of fun at the San Diego Zoo.
- Briggs' 3rd Birthday
We celebrated Briggs' 3rd with a small gathering for friends and family for a turtle themed party as requested by Briggs. He also got a real live turtle from Andrew & Kristin in San Diego. Briggs appropriately named him "Drew".
- March Spring Training
Ryan made it to Arizona again for Spring Training. Jason was able to join him this time around.

Egg Hunting with Lolo & Avery in Santa Maria and Easter morning celebrations.

Tons of play dates (including the ultimate painting party on our STILL blank walls), and a trip to the beach with Gaga for Spring Break.

The kiddos hit up the snow for the second time on the bunny hills of Frazier Park.

We saw Andre Rieu in concert, got the flu, saw Hadley dedicated to the Lord, played in the cold winter air, hit up the fountain for some "boy" time with Briggs' friends and had an early Christmas celebration with the Smiths.
- Christmas in Washington
After an 18 hour drive straight to Port Townsend, Washington, we spent Christmas week with the Vance family opening tons of gifts, decorating our Christmas tree from scratch, playing in the snow with Hadley and Briggs for the first time and exploring fort bunkers. Unfortunately, we followed up the trip with another grueling 18 hour drive in rain and snow to get home. :)

Just a lot of playing around this month... Murray Family Farms with Ei-Ei, baking cookies, first sushi, etc. etc.

We met up with the friends at our church's annual beach camping trip, celebrated Gaga's bday, and had a blast on Halloween.

Ryan took a recruiting trip to Penn State, we all headed over to SLO for Jasmine's 30th & to see Karin visiting from Norway, made a quick trip up the bay, and Briggs hit up the Kern County Fair a couple of times with Dad, Paw Paw & Gaga.

- New York
Ryan went to New York and Houston for work for two and a half weeks in July. Although he missed the fam, he managed to fill his time with training, taking in a ballgame in Ohio, visiting Brian & Allison in Boston, Spencer and Kristen in Philidelphia and seeing Cal Ripkin's induction ceremony in Cooperstown at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Not too shabby!

We spent a summer day out at Murray Family Farms seeing the animals, taking a train ride, and picking blackberries, blueberries & nectarines!
- The Birthday Girls
Okay, in all fairness.. The Birthday Girls and Boy :) Jenn celebrated her 30th and Hadley celebrated her 1st birthday with Uncle Pat who turned 22...that's right, THREE July 3rd birthdays! It was obvious birthday madness... and our little ladybug was a hillarious stuffing her face with cake!

- Lake James, Indiana
We met up with Jenn's family after St Maarten for a week of weddings, boating, and lounging around the cottage at Lake James in Indiana. Briggs & Hadley had their first boat rides, first fishing trip, and first Ritter's frozen custard!
- St Maarten
When Jenn & Mark asked us to consider a trip to the Caribbean with them, we knew this would be one of the last chances we had in quite awhile to take an adult only trip... with air miles we had saved up since the beginning of marriage, a free timeshare gifted to Jenn and Mark by her parents for the week and an offer from our parents to play mom and dad, we couldn't refuse! We definitely missed Briggs & Hadley but they had a great time with Pawpaw & Gaga in Indiana, and as always, it was such a great investment in our marrige. We had a blast with Jenn & Mark in St. Maarten!

Happy Mother's Day! We headed to Laguna to play for the day ...my hottie, two babes, gelato and the best pizza ever on the beach... what more could a girl want? It was a great and much needed get away.

Spring Break at the beach, celebrating Briggs' birthday & photos from Disneyland... my camera lens had a bizarre smudge on it for awhile, tainting most of these photos... BUMMER! Oh well, the kiddos are still as cute as ever.

It's been a busy month so far ... a Kings game (thanks to Deena), an impromptu trip down to San Diego to see Erin and Nancy again, and Briggs' first Wiggles concert (an early birthday present from Pawpaw & Gaga).

Nancy & Allan were in the States and came for a visit, although at separate times. Briggs & Hadley were spoiled with affection and attention by their Nana & Pops.

In the typical ailing Murphy spirit, Briggs & Hadley made their first trips to the ER ... Briggs took a swan dive onto our hard wood floor, and both were also diagnosed with RSV ( & quarentined for SIX WEEKS!) Needless to say, we did a lot of coloring, chalk, Playdough and reading... it was quite the bonding time although we all went a little stir crazy! This month we also welcomed baby Hayden Rice Gehring into the world!

In November we took a two week vacation to Sumatra, Indonesia to visit Nana & Pops. We spent a couple of days in Singapore, and almost a week lounging at the beach on the island of Bintan. Next we headed to the remote camp of Duri on the island of Sumatra to see where Nancy and Allan spend their time playing golf! :) It was really eye opening to see how expats live among other cultures. Some of the highlights were seeing Briggs hug and kiss other children of all different ethnicites and nationalities, an amazing Din Sum dinner in Singapore, delivering rice to the neighboring poor outside the Duri camp, a fantastic Thanksgiving meal with family...including Guava Margaritas, the Singapore Zoo, hearing Briggs call for "Mana" & "Paaaaa" in the mornings, watching Asians scream and run over to touch awe over our white babies, and of course, taking Briggs & Hadley on their first international adventure! Oh, did we mention we also came home with suitcases of clean clothes? We were truly spoiled rotten and are so greatful to be able to spend with Nancy & Allan on their turf :)

We started off the month with a visit to the Avila Valley Farm pumpkin patch and Briggs' first time at the petting zoo. Unfortunately we all spent the rest of the month battling one illness after another... we had lots of indoor quarentine time which made for some cute photos of the kiddos resting up. Hadley was too sick to get dressed up on Halloween, but Briggs and Jenn were able to make it out for a little trick-or-treating. After Briggs ran into a stranger's house and up her stairs, and continued to try and give back every piece of candy given to him, we realized that Halloween is definitely more for the parent snapping photos than for the 1 1/2 year old! :) It was pretty hillarious!

Lots of changes... Hadley is sleeping 12 hours at night (YES!!!) and is growing like a weed, Jenn is back at the gym (sort of:) , Ryan started a new job at Chevron, and Briggs is working on mastering talking, puzzles, dressing himself, falling off of our bed, falling into the bathtub (no water:) and attempting to dance with his baby sister...which means we definitely have to keep an eye on him! We also made it to Caden's first birthday in Simi toward the end of the month.

We took the kiddos to the Kern County Fair with the Gehring and Nunes families. Briggs was quite a site in his overalls and got the chance to practice all of his animal sounds. Hadley chilled in the Bjorn as usual! :)

Hadley made a timely entrance on July 3rd, her Mama's birthday (and her uncle Pat's birthday too!) Jenn couldn't have asked for a more perfect birthday gift. At 11:52 PM, Hadley arrived weighing in at 6# 13 oz and 20 inches long! We love her to pieces and she is getting cuter and cuter with every passing second!

Sarah and Andrew were married at a beautiful winery in Paso Robles, Briggs celebrated his first Easter, and we made it over to the coast for some fun on the beach.....AND Briggs finally mastered walking!

We dressed warm, played with friends, took chilly morning walks, ate pine needles off the Christmas tree, and got excited for Briggs' first Christmas!

The three of us had a great Christmas celebration at our home on Christmas morning, then headed over to the Smiths for Christmas dinner and even more gifts! And of course, Briggs met Santa! :)

Our house was full with family as Nana from Indonesia, Sarah, Jason & Erin from Northern CA and Jason (cuz2) from Seattle came to visit. We met baby Caden for the first time....oh, and Briggs got his first pair of cowboy boots! :)

We spent the day with Nancy, Erin & Jason at the happiest.... I mean, the most crowded place on earth!

Briggs is finally introduced to the cousins, Aunt Dawn, Uncle Mike, Uncle Mark and Grandma Johnson on a long weekend visit! After 4 years of fairly easy standby travel we managed to miss eight flights home over the course of 24 hours on our last free United flying spree! :) What a way to go out!
- Labor Day Weekend
We had a relaxing Labor Day weekend (despite the plane turbulence) visiting our wonderful friends back East; Gary, Heather and Ellie in Virginia & Ron and Becky in Baltimore...they all spoiled us rotten!

10 year reunions, baseball & our little guy.
- Boston
Ryan freed up nearly 100,000 baseball cards worth of garage space in exchange for rights to the proceeds :) ...he chose a family weekend in Boston near the harbor, exploring the Freedom Trail, picnicing with Brian & Allison, visiting his favorite baseball park, and taking Briggs to his first major league game at Fenway. Don't worry, he made sure he kept all of his favorite cards ... :)
